A bit about us
Weavers’ Works is a space where you can slow down and embrace the art of weaving. We often forget the joy and peace that comes from working with our hands, and from the meditative process of creating something from start to finish. At Weavers’ Works, we offer an opportunity to reconnect with that rhythm, taking the time to plan, design, prepare, and weave at a pace that suits you.
Weavers’ Works was born from a moment of transition. When The Handweavers Studio announced its relocation from London to Dorset, it left a void in the community. Taslima Sultana, who had taught at the studio for almost a decade, has taken the step to continue providing a workshop space in London for weavers.
With Taslima, a woven textile designer and Central Saint Martins graduate, Weavers' Works is more than just a place to learn skills. It's a supportive studio where creativity grows through encouragement and inspiration. The classes guide students through the weaving process, from planning and designing, to preparing materials, and finally, to weaving and finishing. Exploring texture, colour, and structure while giving yourself the time and space to experiment and grow. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced weaver, the studio offers a welcoming environment to learn, create, and connect with others.
A weavers thought…
As a straight path, it would take a single end of 60/2 nm silk yarn weighing 3.22 kg to stretch from London to Dorset. But given the ‘take up’ around the city, trees, and sheep, this would turn into a bit of an expensive theoretical journey, might need a few more cones to stay on track!
